Back in May, I thought I'd seen the most romantic form of celebrity date night dressing when Zendaya wore a Shakespearean dress to Tom Holland Romeo and Juliet Premiere. Now it's October and the couple is surpassing their own paragon of fashion romance.

A few hours after Zendaya promoted Tom Holland's new non-alcoholic beer brand Bero in parachute pants and official merch, the two showed their support for each other in matching burgundy outfits for a date night on October 24 in New York City. Z was the first to leave the Greenwich Hotel in Tribeca. He wore a skin-tight Merlot leather maxi dress – custom-made, courtesy of Louis Vuitton by Nicolas Ghesquière. Designed by Law Roach, the piece featured a plunging neckline, a belted waist and a shiny autumnal apple finish. The hem was so long that I couldn't see her shoes – but knowing Zendaya, there was a pair of So Kate pumps underneath. (Unless she's testing the upcoming Miss Z Louboutin pumps named in her honor.)

The short walk from the front door to the car also revealed some exciting beauty updates: Zendaya re-dyed her hair a glossy chocolate brown after going blonde for the year challenger Press tour. She styled it in soft, romantic waves for date night, paired with light pink eyeshadow and a glossy lip. However, her nude manicure was exactly similar to the one she wore last week in Los Angeles and at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony with her Cher-inspired nude dress.

Tom Holland matched Zendaya – or was it the other way around? – in a burgundy T-shirt, black pants and sneakers. I suspect he also consulted Law Roach for his outfit – the shade matches Zendaya's dress too perfectly to be picked alone.

Zendaya and Tom Holland haven't had many color-coordinating moments together in public, but they haven't shied away from supporting each other in interviews and on social media since they started dating in 2021. In my circle of friends, Holland's annual, earnest “Happy Birthday” Instagram post for Z is the equivalent of a national holiday. This summer, Zendaya visited two of Holland's Romeo and Juliet Appearances – for the second time, with a huge bouquet of roses for their leading man.
