LOS ANGELES – The Dodgers' lineup for Game 1 of the World Series against the Yankees at Dodger Stadium has some expected starters back in the lineup.

Freddie Freeman, limited by a right ankle sprain and missing three games this October, is back at first base Friday night, just as he said he would be earlier in the week.

“With this time off, it's going to be a 100 percent performance for me in Game 1, and we'll be prepared for that,” Freeman said Tuesday. “I don’t think anyone is aware of it.”

Gavin Lux is also back at second base after dealing with hip flexor tightness. His last start was Game 3 of the NLCS nine days ago, thanks to a mix of keeping him fresh but also the Mets starting four left-handed pitchers during the Series.

Kiké Hernández, who is 7 for 19 in his career with three doubles and a home run (.368/.478/.684) against Yankees ace Gerrit Cole, starts in center field and bats sixth. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Hernández will remain in the regular lineup as this will be his ninth straight start.

Miguel Rojas, who was reinstated to the roster for the World Series, will not start Game 1; will Start at shortstop in Game 2 against Carlos Rodón.

“I see him coming in — whether it's a pinch hit in Gavin's spot that I could use from him or someone else — I see him potentially coming in to play short defense,” Roberts said of Rojas. “He’s in a good spot and we’re going to need him.”

Jack Flaherty starts on the mound in Game 1 for the Dodgers. Only two Yankees batters have faced the right-hander at least 10 times in their careers. Juan Soto had a double in eight at-bats but also had five walks against Flaherty.

“People like him just love the big stage, the big moment,” Roberts said of Soto this week. “You just have to hope you get the guys off the base before he gets up.”

Anthony Rizzo, who starts at first base and bats sixth for the Yankees, is 9 for 21 with three home runs, a double and five walks against Flaherty, although they have only had six plate appearances against each other after 2019.
