Winter Park Ski Train is extending days from Denver and lowering prices for winter 2025

The Winter Park Express ski train is lowering fares and expanding service this winter in collaboration with the state government, officials announced at a news conference Monday.

Fares will be 43% lower than last year, according to a press release from the governor's office. From January 9th there will be 69 return flights, 29 more than last year. Two more passenger cars will be added, increasing the number of available seats to 402, an increase of 50% compared to the previous year.

The Winter Park Ski Train operated from 1940 until 2009, when it was closed by Ansco Investment Company due to rising operating costs. In 2017, it returned as the Winter Park Express, an Amtrak service.

The service will run Thursdays to Mondays this season until March 31st. There will be additional holiday service from December 20th to 22nd and December 27th to 29th. One-way fares for adults range from $19 to $39, while for children (ages 2 to 12) they start at $9.50. Ticket sales began on Monday.

The train is scheduled to leave Denver Union Station at 7 a.m. and arrive at the Winter Park base at 9 a.m. He is scheduled to leave Winter Park at 4:30 p.m. and arrive in Denver at 6:40 p.m. Also new this season is Amtrak adding a platform stop in Fraser, six miles north of the Winter Park base.
