Just in time for Election Day, there will be a break in the wind on Tuesday after high wind warnings and advisories in Santa Ana on Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, wind gusts exceeding 50 mph were recorded in the Santa Monica and San Gabriel Mountains in the early morning hours Monday as the Santa Ana wind event began. The wind died down in the afternoon and evening hours.

On Tuesday, a cool morning will lead to a warmer afternoon with clear skies and dry conditions. Temperatures will continue to be below average. In the Los Angeles and Orange County metropolitan areas, temperatures will reach 55 degrees by 7 a.m. when polls open. Temperatures will reach a high of 72 degrees around midday and then drop to 68 degrees by 4 p.m

In the Inland Empire, the temperature is 50 degrees at 7 a.m., reaches 73 degrees at noon and drops to 59 degrees when the polls close at 8 p.m

Late Tuesday evening and overnight, north and northeast winds will increase, causing temperatures to drop to 15 to 20 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.

Starting Wednesday, Santa Ana will experience a stronger, more widespread and longer lasting wind event beginning around 3 a.m. This is expected to result in widespread critical fire weather conditions in wind-prone areas of Los Angeles and Ventura counties through Thursday, according to the NWS.

All areas that had a warning in effect on Monday will be under another warning starting at 4 a.m. Wednesday morning and lasting until 6 p.m. Thursday, as well as the Antelope Valley Foothills and the San Gabriel Valley.
