The Buffalo Bills made a spectacular move last week, trading for wide receiver Amari Cooper to boost their inconsistent offense.

Cooper's arrival wasn't the only reason the Bills beat a bad Tennessee Titans team. But the veteran scored a touchdown in his first game with the team and Josh Allen threw for 323 yards, his best season.

Allen spoke to the media after the game about his new No. 1 receiver.

“Any time you have a player of his caliber he demands special attention. If you don’t do that, we’ll probably throw the ball to him,” Allen said. “But our guys did a good job of getting open and making plays.”

The operation was not without errors. The Bills were sluggish in the first half and actually trailed Tennessee 10-0. But at the end of the game, the Bills looked like many expected them to at the start of the season – one of the best teams in the AFC.

5. Buffalo Bills (+1)

Amari Cooper woke up after halftime in his Bills debut and clearly added a dimension to the offense that hadn't existed before. This was a very encouraging development and should theoretically get better over time. The veteran's presence in the lineup also seemed to give rookie Keon Coleman a bit of a boost in his best performance to date with four catches for 125 yards. The entire offense was incredibly sleepy early in the game, which has been a problem before, so it can't be a result of Cooper getting up to speed. Buffalo finally got going and the defense recovered after a shaky start that saw the home team fall into a 10-0 deficit against underdog Tennessee. The end product: A 34-10 victory. One would hope that the Bills would deliver a better 60 minutes week after week against seemingly weaker opponents, but that's not really how they're built. You are a type of boxer who needs to deliver a few punches before the match really begins. That worked against the Titans and Cardinals, but it didn't work against Houston and Baltimore. Translation: The Bills need to get this out of their system before the playoffs.

Who did they hit? Cardinals, Dolphins, Jaguars, Jets, Titans

Josh Allen is third in the league in EPA per dropback (0.24), fourth in passer rating (108.4) and fourth in passing touchdowns (12), although he still has no interceptions. He led Buffalo to 34 unanswered points on Sunday after the Titans took a 10-0 lead. However, this is the week where we have to point out that the Bills' wins have come against teams that have a combined record of 9-24.

It was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Buffalo Bills, but they are 4-2 and have a 2.5 game lead over the Dolphins and Jets in the AFC East. The addition of Amari Cooper has made them more dangerous on offense and the defense is starting to step up.

If Josh Allen can continue to play at this level, the Bills could finally reach the Super Bowl this year.

Young newcomer: CB Christian Benford

Since training camp, Benford has shown why he can be a consistent and strong long-term starter. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, he is the nearest defender to have given up 3.7 yards per target this season, the third fewest by a player with 20 or more targets. Among cornerbacks with 200 or more coverage snaps, the 24-year-old Benford has the second-lowest completion rate (51.6%) as the best defender. “(Benford) knows what it takes, he works hard every day…extremely hard,” starting outside corner Rasul Douglas said this season. “He’s studying. He’s just caught up, he’s focused.”
