MINNEAPOLIS – For some, the weather is a delight. For others, it's a cruel trick. But the falling snow plays a huge role in Halloween celebrations.

“It’s part of Minnesota. You just go with it,” said Lydia Langfield of Rosemount.

Some families decided to take a trip to the Mall of America, where an indoor celebration was taking place.

“That's what it's all about – seeing the smiles on our guests' faces and our families' faces, that's what we do this for,” said Chris Grap of the Mall of America.

The flakes obviously didn't dampen the fun, but they did send some commuters looking for another treat, state police reported more than 200 crashes as soon as it started snowing.

“I played pickleball two days ago – now we have snow,” said Susan Hinderscheid.

For Rico Williams, Thursday's snowfall was no match for the Halloween blizzard of 1991.

“We woke up and couldn’t even open the door because there was so much snow as you remember this year,” Williams said.

While the flakes didn't stop the candy from grabbing, it slowed commuters but boosted business at Turbo Tim.

“When it snows, we definitely see an increase in business and phone calls,” said Taylor Besser, Turbo Tim’s training director.

Besser said most of the calls involved tire and brake inspections.

“It’s good to give your car a check-up before winter,” Besser said. “We’ll test people’s batteries and make sure the belts don’t squeak.”

He wants people to know that being prepared means you don't slip up and you can save money.
