As expected, it was a low-scoring game, although the Utes had chances to take the lead late in the second quarter.

Utah's last two possessions of the half ended in missed field goal attempts, including one five seconds before halftime, and we're tied.

Utah has 218 yards of total offense while Houston only manages 99 yards.

Isaac Wilson completed 12 of 18 passes for 164 yards and a touchdown in the first half – his first pass of the night went 71 yards to Brant Kuithe for a score.

Since then, however, the Utes have punted twice, lost a fumble and missed two field goals, while Houston scored after getting a short field goal early in the second quarter.

Second quarter

Utah 7, Houston 7

4:15 – Utah was held scoreless on a 55-yard drive that included a fourth-down conversion as Cole Becker missed a 46-yard field goal attempt just right.

11:49 – Isaac Wilson is back in the game for Utah after missing two plays on the last drive. Brandon Rose was 0-for-1 in his brief stint as a substitute for Wilson.

11:54 – Houston took advantage of a short field with Stephon Johnson catching a 21-yard pass on third down. Utah 7, Houston 7.

Houston began the possession at the Utah 23 after the Utes were forced to punt from their own end zone, and a short punt – and a 15-yard return – put the Cougars just 23 yards from the end zone.

14:31 – Utah pulled off a huge stop, with a goal-line stand after a turnover, to keep Houston scoreless. The Cougars had two chances to inbound the ball from the 1, but Utah stopped them for no gain on third and fourth downs.

However, Isaac Wilson was injured on the play after the fourth stop and Brandon Rose is at quarterback for the Utes. Wilson held his wrist as he left the field.
