What the Jaguars' defense showed against the Eagles

The Jacksonville Jaguars lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 28-23 in Week 9. The Jaguars were in the game but couldn't beat a good Eagles team.

Going into this matchup, the Jaguars defense was faced with the challenge of stopping a talented and explosive Eagles offense. We knew how dangerous this Eagles team was with Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith.

Even at full strength, the Jaguars defense played well.

Initially, it looked like the Jaguars defense was in for a long game due to the lack of support from the offense.

On the Eagles' first possession, the Jaguars forced a punt. But they had to retake the field because the returner couldn't make it. Then the Jaguars pummeled the ball on their first possession, forcing the defense back down the field.

And things didn't get any easier for the Jaguars' defense. After consecutive threes and outs by both teams, the Jaguars' defense stayed on the field for a 15-game scoring streak for the Eagles.

The Jaguars' defense held its own in the first half and gave the offense several scoring opportunities. They forced a turnover and had several stops as the Eagles used their famous tush push play.

The Eagles took a 16-0 lead into the locker room. It could have been worse, but the Jaguars defense kept it at bay.

In the second half, the offense finally woke up and gave the defense a chance to breathe. Then the Jaguars forced a turnover, causing Saquon Barkley to fumble. Jaguars defensive end Travon Walker picked up the fumble and brought it inside to bring the Jaguars within a point of the lead.

The Jaguars had just started the second half. They then forced two more turnovers. One on a 4th and 1. And another on a missed Eagles field goal.

The Jaguars offense had one last chance to win the game but failed. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw a ball into the back of the end zone that was intercepted by the Eagles.

That Jaguars defense will be interesting to see how the second half of the season unfolds. On the defensive side, they are starting to see success in all areas.
