West Hartford police and authorities across the state are reporting an outage in the 9-1-1 system Tuesday

Police departments across the state reported a problem with the 9-1-1 system Tuesday afternoon.

The City of West Hartford sent out messages through its Everbridge Community Advisory Notification System and also sent out alerts via email and social media early Tuesday afternoon indicating that West Hartford and other emergency services across the state were experiencing problems receiving 9-9 1 had -1 calls.

The specific message from West Hartford states: “Police departments across Connecticut are experiencing issues receiving emergency and routine calls. State authorities are investigating the matter. A state emergency alert sounded at 1:15 p.m., alerting phone users to the problem. The West Hartford Police Department reported that 911 calls on Verizon cell phones and landlines are not working. T-Mobile and AT&T seem to be working. All routine lines are down for the West Hartford Police Department. If you cannot call 911, text 9-1-1.”

The Connecticut Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security also noted that there were problems with the 9-1-1 system statewide and asked people not to text or attempt to call 9-1-1. to test the system unless there is an actual emergency.
