Weezer return to Fortnite to celebrate 30 years of The Blue Album.

Weezer are returning Fortnite to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their legendary debut “The Blue Album”.

Weezer was one of the first bands to do this Fortnite Now with their 2019 Weezer World experience, the band will return to the open-world crime simulator game Sweat(er) City.

Created with Fortnite's dedicated engine editor, Sweat(er) City is a 24-player open-world experience in which you must plan and execute elaborate heists while avoiding rival gangs.

The limited time Weezer Sweat(er) City The event goes live today (October 11). According to a press release, the experience will “bring the band's music to life in a series of new and sometimes surprising #weezered moments in the game.” This includes a weaponized guitar that plays the iconic “Buddy Holly” riff, while the developers have also recreated Arnold's Drive-In, which appears in the “Buddy Holly” music video. Players can also take selfies in front of a blue wall to recreate the album cover and “fight a Rivers Cuomo NPC boss wielding a stun gun made of sweater yarn.”

Sweat(er) City “It’s all about rocking out with your friends while pulling off the sweetest heists with the best gear,” said Alex Seropian, founder and CEO of developers Look North World. “There is no band that can provide the soundtrack to the action better than Weezer. This partnership embodies the future of interactive entertainment, where music and games come together to create immersive, fan-focused experiences. We are honored to partner with and include Weezer Sweat(er) City and back to Fortnite!”

“Weezer and Fortnite Goes together like rock and roll and a diner,” added Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo. “So stop by, stop by Arnold's Drive-In. But be careful, you might find yourself breathless.”

Sweat(er) City is available from October 11th to November 11th and players can access the game by entering the Fortnite Creative Island code 8484-8812-9198.

Weezer also celebrated the 30th anniversary of “The Blue Album” with their lavish “Voyage To The Blue Planet” tour, which ends tonight in California. The tour will also be available to stream this weekend, while a 30th anniversary reissue of The Blue Album will be released on November 1st.
