ATLANTA – A significant drop in temperatures is expected across metro Atlanta and northern Georgia, according to FOX 5 Storm Team meteorologist Alex Forbes. “It’s going to feel even colder,” Forbes said, looking ahead to Tuesday morning. “We could expect temperatures to drop by around 20 degrees across the region by tomorrow morning.”

“The drop in temperature coincides with a cold front moving through the area, which will bring winds of 10 to 15 miles per hour from the northwest and gusts of up to 20 miles per hour. Despite sunny conditions throughout the day, temperatures will struggle to reach the low 70s,” Forbes explained, adding, “We expect highs around 72, but the wind chill factor will be noticeable.”

“Northeast Georgia, including Canton, Gainesville and Dahlonega, will likely experience even lower daytime highs, with temperatures possibly remaining in the 60s. As evening approaches, the thermometer could drop into the 50s and 40s. “Temperatures could rise tomorrow morning.” “It will be the coldest morning we have seen since mid-April.”

“In addition, there is a risk of frost in portions of north Georgia, particularly north of Interstate 20, Wednesday and Thursday morning. 'Those with agricultural interests in these areas should take precautions,' Forbes recommended.”

“The forecast for Atlanta indicates that high temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday will be lower than current high temperatures; however, a warming trend is expected to bring temperatures back into the 70s by the weekend.
