“Chris Brown: A History of Violence,” the shocking new documentary about pop and R&B star Chris Brown and his abuse allegations and trial, premieres tonight. Sunday October 27th at 9pm on ID Network. The release comes from the makers of the Nickelodeon documentary “Quiet on Set.” Watch live for free with a trial version of Philo.

What is the special documentary about?

The documentary is part of ID Network's “No Excuse for Abuse” campaign and tells the story of musician Chris Brown and his long history of violence, including his charges of domestic violence, assault and sexual assault since 2009. The documentary includes commentary on his past abuse of pop star, celebrity and then-girlfriend Rihanna and includes new allegations recently made by a victim. What happened to Chris Brown?

Chris Brown was convicted of domestic violence against Rihanna in 2009 and sentenced to five years probation. Since then, he has been in court several times over allegations of abuse and is currently facing another abuse lawsuit in Texas. He was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder and has been in and out of rehabilitation centers in recent years. His last tour took place in 2023, the same year he released his latest album called 11:11. He has had three children since 2014. Legally, Chris Brown was recently detained in Paris in July 2024 on possible charges of aggravated rape.
