After rain spoiled the first day of the first Test between India and New Zealand, the much-awaited match began on the second day at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Rohit Sharma won the toss and the hosts elected to bat first.

The decision backfired as the opening round was marred by New Zealand sailors due to overcast conditions at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Meanwhile, captain Rohit Sharma, who had a batting error against Bangladesh, once again performed poorly, falling for just 2 (16).

Tim Southee is causing problems for Rohit Sharma

The hitman struggled with the seam and swing from the first delivery but returned to the pavilion after Tim Southee bowled a brilliant throw with the swing.

On the 3rd ball of the 7th over, Rohit stepped onto the track to break the momentum but failed as the ball went back in, sneaking under the large gap between bat and pad and shaking the middle and leg stumps.
