Warriors' Steve Kerr apologizes to local Giants fans for Dodgers fanbase – NBC Sports Bay Area and California

Steve Kerr won't hide his love for the Los Angeles Dodgers, much to the chagrin of Bay Area sports fans.

Kerr, who grew up watching the Dodgers, is currently enjoying his team's impressive run in the World Series.

“Maybe so,” Kerr said Monday on KNBR’s “Tolbert & Copes.” “We don’t have to talk about that (laughs). I feel like a lot of people are just trying to get me in trouble around my fellow Bay Area fans because of my Dodger fan base.”

Kerr spent much of his childhood in Southern California, and those formative years attending Dodgers games made him a lifelong fan.

“You can't help it when you're a kid and you go to games with your dad and your brother and you sit in the stands every summer for 10, 15 years in a row,” Kerr told Tom Tolbert and Adam Copeland. “You can’t put an end to this. It's just in your blood. I just want to apologize to all Giants fans. It is what it is.”

The Giants-Dodgers rivalry is one of the most heated in the MLB, dating back to when both teams lived in New York. Los Angeles has had an incredible postseason winning streak over the last decade and appears poised to win its second World Series title in the last five seasons.

Meanwhile, San Francisco fans are hoping franchise icon Buster Posey can return the team to glory after taking over as president of baseball operations.

Given Kerr's incredible success with the Warriors and his recent Olympic victory with Team USA, Bay Area fans won't judge him too harshly for supporting the white and blue.
