JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla – The Jacksonville Beach Ocean Rescue Division urged beachgoers to stay out of the water amid dangerous ocean conditions that will continue through the weekend.

According to Ocean Rescue officials, the current weather in Jacksonville Beach, combined with the impacts of distant storms Milton and Leslie in the Atlantic Ocean, has resulted in increased dangers and risks at sea, resulting in red flag conditions.

The National Weather Service office in Jacksonville has issued a high flow hazard for Duval County through the weekend.

Officials urged beachgoers to take the following precautions:

  • Avoid entering the water unless you are a very experienced sea swimmer or surfer

  • Always swim in front of a lifeguard who can help quickly in an emergency

  • Call 911 immediately if you see someone in distress. Do not attempt to rescue them yourself as this may pose significant risk to you. Trained specialists will take care of the situation.

The Ocean Rescue Division said it has lifeguards monitoring the beach but still wants the public to stay informed, be cautious and prioritize safety.
