After Tennessee Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley went without a catch in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, he commented on how he was used in the first few weeks of the season.

Ridley expressed his frustration that it took until the fourth quarter for him to be consistently targeted in Sunday's game:

“Shit, I need some (goals) at the start of the damn game too. Shit’s getting crazy about me.”

Ridley was targeted eight times by Titans second-year quarterback Will Levis, who threw for just 95 yards on 16 of 27 passes with one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's loss. The sixth-year receiver carried the ball nine yards once, which was his only touch of the game.

Ridley admitted he needs to make more of an impact consistently, but insisted he needs to be more involved in the passing attack early in games.

“It is like it is. “I played poorly today and I need to get better, but I need to get the ball a little earlier in the game so I can be in the game and here with the team so I can play well,” he said.

The 29-year-old has just nine catches for 141 yards and one touchdown and one rushing score in the first five games of the season.

He is in his first year in Tennessee after signing a four-year, $92 million contract in the offseason following an impressive 2023 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars in which he had 76 catches for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns .

Levis' subpar quarterback play has obviously affected Ridley's ability to consistently perform for the Titans, but the veteran wideout also needs to do more to improve the signal-caller as he continues to adjust to the NFL.

Ridley will be looking for a better performance when the 1-4 Titans return to action next Sunday against the Buffalo Bills (3-2).
