It's not often that LeBron James finds himself in the middle of trade rumors, but the Los Angeles Lakers star found himself in that situation last year when there was speculation about a deal that would send him to the Golden State Warriors.

It was strange for his co-star Anthony Davis to hear that James was involved in a trade for possibly the first time in his career.

“I wasn’t on social media at the time so I didn’t see it. I heard about it…it was national news,” Davis said. “But I don’t think it affected anyone. I think this may have been the first time in his career that he took part in trade negotiations. He's kind of seen it all, so I don't think it's affected him, but it has.” “It doesn't affect our team. But it was definitely strange in a way, it was the first time he had been talked about in a profession.”

In February, shortly after the trade deadline, ESPN reported Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne reported that the Warriors had proposed a trade for James that would bring him to Golden State, but James and the Lakers were not “willing to explore the deal.”

The blockbuster trade would have brought James and his longtime rival Stephen Curry together, but he ultimately preferred to stay with Davis and Los Angeles.

James and Curry first played together when they led Team USA to a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. James spoke highly of playing with the star he has competed against over the last decade.

“It was everything and more,” James said Monday, according to Greg Beacham of the Associated Press. “I was really looking forward to finally being able to work with him in a win-or-die atmosphere. This was what it was like to be a part of the Olympics. It was everything I dreamed of and everything I wanted and wanted to be.” Part of that team, along with Steph. Something I will remember for the rest of my life.

Although he looks back fondly on his time with Curry, James admitted that he has “no idea” if he will ever work with him again, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

For now, James will focus on the upcoming season for himself, Davis and the Lakers. Los Angeles finished 47-35 last season and reached the playoffs via the play-in tournament, but lost in the first round to the Denver Nuggets.

James, who turns 40 in December, hopes to add to his already historic resume with another title.
