We announce this with love and beautiful memories Tylee Craft has begun his journey to the other side.

Tylee meant so much to so many and influenced us in ways for which we will always be grateful. He was a loner and even though he won't be with us physically, he will watch over us with his endearing smile and endless positivity.

On behalf of his family and the Tar Heel football program, we sincerely thank everyone who supported Tylee during his battle with cancer. It means more than you know. With love and affection, #TyleeStrongForever 🩵

UNC head coach Mack Brown To Tylee Craft:
“This young man fought so hard for his two and a half years that the doctors told us he survived what he should have survived. And he did it with the spirit, he did it with a smile on his face, he did it.” “I didn't miss a meeting, he didn't miss a training session, he trained these other young guys, I mean, him is just an incredible young person.”

Brown on his team's reaction:
“I think the family feels the love and they will continue to feel that love. We need to be strong and pray for strength for us as leaders to help these guys on the field and off the field…So I need to advocate for them more than ever and make sure I can help them get through things and move forward in their lives. I once told them that I led a team to win 13 games and you didn't learn nearly as many life lessons as that team.

Brown on the ceremony for Craft at the end of the first quarter:
“I usually hide my feelings as best I can because I have to, because I have to be someone else. And this team and Tylee were bigger than my feelings, so I had to go back and make sure… I mean.” JJ Jones cried, there were children crying when I went back there.

“You start doing whatever you need to do at that point to make it. I thought we would score and win the game. I thought what a wonderful tribute that would be to Tylee, even though I didn't do it. “Knowing he had died at that point, they would have been so thrilled and it would have been a huge disappointment when we told them said they had lost their friend.”

Brown on his perspective:
“What we all need to do is wake up and be happier and make sure we reach out and help other people, and that's what cancer awareness games are all about.” The boys actually called someone – and said I dedicate mine Classwork, gosh practice, my game, even if I'm a scout team player who doesn't play – for you, because I want you to know that you matter.
