UEFA Champions League predictions: Matchday October 22nd

The 2024-25 UEFA Champions League returns on October 22 after the October international break. Two UCL final rematches in recent history top the list of fixtures this week. The SI Soccer editorial team gives our predictions for every game.

Prediction: Monaco 2-0 Crvena zvezda (Max Mallow)

Monaco saved a point in their last game against Dinamo Zagreb thanks to two late goals from Mohammed Salisu and Denis Zakaria. This was a disappointing result given the hard work AS Monaco put in to start the season with three points against Barcelona. With the same number of points in Ligue 1, AS Monaco secured its second win in the league phase.

Prediction: AC Milan – Club Brugge 2-0 (Braden Chalker)

The Rossoneri take three points in Europe with goals from USMNT star Christian Pulisic and Álvaro Morata. AC Milan might simply be too much for Club Brugge.

Prediction: Arsenal 3-0 Shakhtar Donetsk (Max Mallow)

In their last game against PSG, Arsenal kept a clean sheet and defeated the Ligue 1 side by two goals. After a disappointing defeat in the Premier League at the weekend, Mikel Arteta's team secured three more points with a comfortable home win.

Prediction: Juventus 2:1 VfB Stuttgart (Braden Chalker)

Juventus secured their third win from three games in the Champions League with a comeback win against VfB Stuttgart. The visitors will strike early at the Allianz Stadium, but Thiago Motta's side recover to secure all three points.

Prediction: SK Sturm Graz 1-3 Sporting CP (Max Mallow)

Sporting CP's Viktor Gyökeres has scored 12 goals in 10 games in Liga Portugal and the Champions League. The Swedish striker will be too much for SK Sturm Graz, who are still looking for their first points in the league phase.

Prediction: Real Madrid 2-0 Borussia Dortmund (Amanda Langell)

Carlo Ancelotti's men are yet to drop any points at the Santiago Bernabéu this season and should secure a comfortable victory over a Dortmund side who are winless in their last three Bundesliga away games. Real Madrid claim victory in a repeat of last season's final.

Prediction: PSG 2-0 PSV Eindhoven (Max Mallow)

Luis Enrique's PSG are unbeaten in eight Ligue 1 games. Expect a good result here against the Eredivisie leaders after beating Strasbourg four times last weekend.

Prediction: Girona 2-1 Slovan Bratislava (Max Mallow)

Both teams go into the game looking for their first points of the UCL league stage. Slovan Bratislava conceded nine goals in their first two games and scored just one. Girona lost two heartbreakers to PSG and Feyenoord. In a hard-fought game, Girona takes home victory, a must-win.

Prediction: Aston Villa 2-1 Bologna (Max Mallow)

Despite having won just one of its last three Premier League games, Aston Villa is on track to remain perfect in the Champions League. A win against Bologna will go a long way towards securing a top 8 finish in the league stage.
