UConn women travel to Germany to advance 2025-26 hoop campaign

STORRS, CT – The University of Connecticut women's basketball team will open the 2025-26 season against Louisville in the 2025 Armed Forces Classic at Ramstein Air Base in Ramstein-Miesenbach, Germany.

The event will be hosted by ESPN Events and the contest will be the first-ever women's basketball match in the Armed Forces Classic.

The Huskies and Cardinals are scheduled to take the field on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Ramstein is hosting the Armed Forces Classic for the third time and hosted the first Classic in 2012, in which the UConn men's team participated.

“We want to do as much as we can, both personally and as a team, to support our Armed Forces,” UConn head coach Geno Auriemma said. “I’m glad we get the opportunity to go overseas and have a lot of our military members come see us play in person. I know it will be an unforgettable experience for everyone in our program.”

The game will be televised on ESPN. The event is the 10th edition of the Armed Forces Classic. The Armed Forces Classic is owned and operated by ESPN Events. It was launched in 2012 as part of ESPN's annual America's Heroes: Salute to Veterans initiative, which dedicates a week of multi-platform programming to Veterans Day.

UConn is 19-3 all-time against Louisville. The teams will compete this season on December 7th at the Women's Champions Classic at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY
