Trump calls Harris a “shitty” vice president and talks about Arnold Palmer in his bonkers speech

Donald Trump returned to western Pennsylvania on Saturday, where he held a rally at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe as the race heats up with 17 days until Election Day.

Most recently, Trump returned to the area earlier this month for a rally in Butler, the site where he was assassinated in July (and earlier this week he held a disastrous town hall meeting in Oaks, Pennsylvania, where he did not attend more questions answered and… music played instead).

Trump tends to ramble at his rallies, and lately he has seemed to abandon all decorum in his speeches (in a recent appearance, he called Democratic presidential candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris “retarded”) and seemed nonsensical (During a speech in Coachella last weekend, he dithered on solving California's water problem without offering a solution and also threatened to withhold wildfire aid if he were elected. Instead, he responded incoherently to a question about climate at a recent Univision town hall talks about his golf course).

But on Saturday, the guy who had jumped the shark many times before was pretty off base even for him, going way beyond his typical rants. Trump began his rally with a speech about the late golfer Arnold Palmer, after whom the airport where Trump spoke was named — that seemed to be the only coherent connection to his nearly 15 minutes of chatter about Palmer. This was strange even for the golf-loving Trump, but then he told a story about it Palmer in the shower room.

“Arnold Palmer was a pure man, and I say that with all due respect to women, and I love women,” he said. “But this guy, this guy, this is a guy who was all man. This man was strong and tough. And I refuse to say it, but when he was showering with the other pros, when they came out there, they said, “Oh my God, that's incredible.” I had to say it.” (Narrator: No, you did not).

While wildly inappropriate, it does seem to fit Trump's modus operandi, given his obsession with size (from exaggerating the crowds that attend his rallies and his complaining about larger attendance at Harris' rallies to his hand/penis size).

He also referred to Palmer as “a friend,” which Palmer's daughter Peg apparently denied in 2018. While she said they did business and that her father appreciated Trump's support of the game, “my father saw a different side of him,” she told Sporting News.

“My dad didn't like people who acted like they were better than other people,” Peg told the outlet in 2018. “He didn't like it when people were mean and rude.” He didn't like it when someone was disrespectful to someone else. My father had no patience for people who humiliated other people in public. He had no patience for people who were dishonest and deceitful. My father was disciplined. He wanted to be a good role model. He was appalled by Trump’s lack of civility and what he perceived as Trump’s lack of character.”

Moving on to that foundation, let's turn to his competitor, who is well-funded compared to Trump's campaign (Harris has raised $1 billion, more than Trump, in the less than three months she was a candidate). captured in an election campaign year). Trump hit another low point Saturday when he mentioned them. While he has made plenty of derogatory comments about Harris since her candidacy, calling her “retarded” and “mentally disabled” in recent speeches, this time he simply dropped the S-bomb.

“So you need to tell Kamala Harris that you’ve had enough and you just can’t take it anymore.” he told the participants on Saturday as they cheered. “We can’t stand you. You're a shitty vice president. The worst. You are the worst vice president, Kamala. You're fired. Get out of here.”

On trend

Trump and Harris continue to be neck and neck in Pennsylvania. According to the 538 Project and ABC News, Harris and Trump each polled at 47.8 percent in their poll averages as of Saturday evening.

Tomorrow, October 20th, Trump will host a town hall in Lancaster, Pennsylvania at the Lancaster Convention Center. Whether he'll resort to a playlist like he did for his bizarre town hall, which turned into the lamest dance party ever, remains to be seen.
