Tracking the next chance of rain and frost potential by midweek | Oct 14, 2024 – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – We started the new work week with full fall weather as it was quite cool and windy.

There is a chance of frost and possibly even a freeze developing and a chance of rain until midweek. It is also worth mentioning that today we are experiencing our longest dry period in 2024 at 16 days.

Monday evening: Tonight won't really be about frost development. It will be more about the possibility of isolated to isolated showers. Much of the rain looks to stay north of Interstate 70, but a few showers could sneak into central Indiana during the overnight hours.

Lows will fall into the lower 40s.

Tuesday: Scattered to scattered showers will continue to be possible throughout Tuesday.

Another cool day that feels more like November is expected. Highs will only reach into the mid 50s. It will also be a bit windy from the north.

Wednesday: Tuesday night into Wednesday morning we will start to talk more about the threat of frost as temperatures will start in the low to mid 30s. Frost spots are possible in the morning hours.

Showers will then continue into Wednesday, particularly in areas of northwest Indiana. Overall, highs will only reach the mid-50s again.

7 day forecast: The best time for widespread frost and potential frost areas is Wednesday night. After that, we expect a warming trend in the second half of this week. Highs are expected to reach the mid-60s by Friday. Then the 70s are forecast again this weekend, with dry conditions prevailing.
