Can you solve today's sentence?

My old strategy paid off today. The first time I guess I often guess a word with an “A” and an “E” and the second time I guess a word with an “O” and an “I”. Depending on the letters that appear for my first word, I often resort to HOIST or BOINK for guess #2. With only a measly yellow “S” from SLATE, I decided on my second guess to go with entirely new letters and went with BOINK (HOIST would have had a gray “T” too). That was a stroke of luck because my first two boxes were green. According to Wordle Bot, I had two choices at this point, but I didn't even think about BOSOM and chose BOSSY instead. Luckily it was the Wordle!

Competitive Wordle Score

I get one point for guessing three and another point for beating the bot that took four tries today. If only it were 2XP Friday! Nevertheless, 2 points are good in my opinion!

How to Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing 1 is worth 3 points; guessing 2 is worth 2 points; guessing 3 is worth 1 point; guessing 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; Guessing on 6 is -2 points and missing the wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If there is a tie you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or simply play for a new score every day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, which means you double your points – positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running list or just play day by day. Enjoy!

Today's Wordle etymology

The word “bossy” comes from the noun “boss”, which in turn is of Dutch origin. The Dutch word baasmeaning “master” or “overseer” was adopted into English in the mid-17th century, particularly in the American colonies. It was used to denote a person who is responsible or has authority over others.

The adjective “bossy” emerged in the late 19th century, adding the suffix “-y” to “boss.” The suffix indicates that it has the qualities or characteristics of the root word – in this case it means someone who behaves like a boss. Over time, “bossy” has acquired a negative connotation, often describing someone who is domineering, controlling, or overly authoritarian in a way that is perceived as annoying or overbearing.
