Have a nice weeknight everyone! The clouds have increased and it's starting to rain as the chance of rain I've been moaning about since Monday is right on our doorstep. Showers will continue this evening, lasting into the early hours of the night, typically ending and moving out of the state by 11am. Since it's the first rain in a long time, the roads can get a little slippery, so give yourself a little extra time when traveling. Due to the low level of drought to be overcome, I still expect rainfall amounts in the order of a tenth to a quarter of an inch. It's certainly not a drought blip, but likely the first chance of rain in several years as an active pattern appears to be developing into next week…more on that later.

A seasonable and dry Friday and Saturday is in store as skies become mostly sunny and high temperatures will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Milder air returns early next week as temperatures climb back into the 70s. This comes ahead of a potentially larger storm system by the middle of next week, which could bring another chance for widespread rain.

Let's see if these trends continue within the pattern. Time will tell.
