The Golden State Warriors will honor Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame member Jerry West, who served as a Warriors board member from 2011 to 2017, with a “JW” courtside decal at Chase Center throughout the 2024-25 season.

The Warriors will debut the badge and observe a moment of silence for West before Friday's preseason finale against the Los Angeles Lakers (10:30 a.m. ET, ESPN2) at Chase Center. Before the game, Warriors guard Stephen Curry will be presented with the 2023-24 Jerry West Clutch Player of the Year award, an award appropriately named after “Mr. Clutch.” West died on June 12, 2024 at the age of 86.

West joined the Warriors as a board member on May 20, 2011 and served in that role during the 2016-17 season, which included five consecutive playoff appearances, three NBA Finals appearances and two NBA titles. Previously inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1980 as a player and in 2010 as a member of the 1960 U.S. Men's Olympic Team, West recently became the first three-time player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame when he was honored as a member of the Class of 2024 as a contributor, in recognition of his front office contributions to the Warriors, Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies.
