Voting for the US presidential election

It's set to be a big day for America as elections take place across the country to choose the next president. In some states, polls will open on November 5 between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. local time (5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. IST).

The two main candidates in the fight are Vice President and Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, while on the other side is former President Donald Trump along with his running mate JD Vance.

According to the University of Florida's Election Lab Tracker, some states have implemented early voting, with more than 68 million Americans already voting. The inauguration of the new government will take place on January 20th, where the elected president will be sworn in.

Berlin Peace Dialogue 2024

The Berlin Peace Dialogue 2024 takes place today in the German capital. This year's theme is “The Importance of Crisis Prevention and Peacebuilding in the Age of Geopolitics,” according to the official press release.

How should and can a foreign and development policy based on values ​​and interests assert itself in these shrinking spaces? What role do civil crisis prevention and peacebuilding still play? The 2024 Berlin Peace Dialogue will focus on the role of civilian crisis prevention in a world characterized by power rivalries and the increasing use or projection of military power.

First Asian Buddhist Summit to be held in Delhi

The first Asian Buddhist Summit to be held in Delhi today, which will be a collaboration between the Government of India and the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), has been informed the Hindu.

The theme is “Role of Buddha Dhamma in Empowering Asia” and focuses on the collective, inclusive and spiritual development of Asia, the Union Ministry of Culture said in a statement.

Opened by President Droupadi Murmu, the event aims to bring together Buddhist “sangha” leaders, scholars, experts and practitioners from various traditions across Asia to promote dialogue, promote understanding and address current challenges facing the Buddhist community , says the press release.

Chhath Puja will be observed from today

Chhath Puja, one of the most celebrated festivals across northern India, begins today with thousands of devotees bathing in a holy river. This year the four-day festival runs until November 8th.

The first day of Chhath Puja called Nahay Khay marks the beginning of the festival. The second day is known as Kharna, where women fast from sunrise to sunset without consuming water.
