The third warmest highs and fourth warmest October on record in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRING – The leaves have changed… The pumpkins have been carved… But the temperatures this October really didn't match the rest of the fall vibe. Check out all the red numbers on the temperature calendar this month!

Our average high in Colorado Springs was almost eight degrees above normal! The maximum values were above average on 21 days and below average on only nine days. Our cold spike right at the end of the month kept it from being the warmest month on record.

But it was close. In both Colorado Springs and Pueblo… This was the third warmest October on record. Pueblo… Their average high temperature of 78 degrees is just about half a degree away from the warmest on record. Cooler minimum temperatures overnight kept the average temperature in both cities at 4th.

It was dry most of the month… Especially in Pueblo… There was almost half an inch less rain than usual and no snow… On average there would be about 2 inches. It was pretty typical in the Springs. Just a little dry and less snowy than an average year.

Speaking of snow… The Springs' first snowfall of the year is just 6 days later than usual. Pueblo… Of course you're still waiting. Your normal first snow is November 3rd.

Speaking of November… Looking ahead, expect more action and less heat. The Climate Prediction Center predicts equal chances for above- and below-average temperatures in November…

And the chances of above and below average rain and snowfall are equal.

The good news with these changes is that many ski resorts should see good snow levels over the next few weeks. So if you feel like hitting the slopes, it won't be long.
