Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs suffered a non-injury knee injury during the second half of their 23-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon.

Diggs attempted a cut on a route late in the third quarter at NRG Stadium and his right knee gave out. He began jumping around, grabbing at his knee, before falling onto the field, visibly in pain. Diggs finally got up and went to the locker room.

The Texans (6-2) initially said his return was questionable due to a knee injury, then ruled him out late in the fourth quarter. Details of his injury are not publicly known.

Diggs came into the game with 415 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 42 catches this season, his first with the Texans. When he went down, he had a team-high 81 yards on five catches.

Texans fend off Colts late

Anthony Richardson and the Colts were close to recovering Sunday afternoon.

After entering halftime trailing by seven points thanks to a massive 14-point second-quarter effort from the Texans, the Colts came within just a 1-yard touchdown run by Jonathan Taylor midway through the fourth quarter a field goal. That touchdown was set up by a wild 25-yard catch by Josh Downs, who nearly scored himself before the play was abandoned after a review at the half-yard line. Downs managed to reach back and get the ball right over Texans safety Jalen Pitre.

CJ Stroud and the Texans put together a long 8-play drive that lasted more than five minutes and brought them into the red zone to respond and looked poised to score again and tie the game.

But then the Texans almost gave it away. Stroud went to throw the ball to Joe Mixon, who threw the ball directly into the arms of Colts defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo. After pinning the ball against his facemask, Odeyingbo actually ran it all the way back into the opponent's end zone – although a review showed he was on the ground from contact.

The Texans quickly pushed Richardson almost into his own end zone after a sack, forcing an Indianapolis punt. Although the Colts got the ball back one last time after the Texans put it away, they didn't have enough time to get into field goal position and extend the game. The Texans held on and snuck away with the three-point victory.

Richardson managed just 10 of 32 for 175 yards with one touchdown and one interception, dropping the Colts to 4-4. Taylor finished the game with 105 rushing yards and a touchdown on 20 carries, and Downs had 109 receiving yards and a touchdown on four catches.

Stroud finished 25 of 37 for 285 yards with a touchdown for the Texans. Mixon had 102 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. The Texans are 4-0 at home this season. They next face the New York Jets (2-6) on Thursday night.
