    The Pelicans host the Bulls in the season opener on Fox 8 and GCSEN

    NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The New Orleans Pelicans announce their 2024-2025 NBA season tonight against the Chicago Bulls at the Smoothie King Center, and fans can catch all the action on Fox 8 and the Gulf Coast Sports and Entertainment Network (GCSEN) track. .

    The game will be broadcast live on Fox 8 and GCSEN, with coverage beginning at 6 p.m Fox 8 Live Tailgate show, followed by a pre-game show at 6:30 p.m. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., and fans can stay to watch highlights and analysis from the post-game show.

    Cox Cable customers in New Orleans will find the Gulf Coast Sports Network on channel 129 tonight before it moves to its permanent home on channel 10 starting Friday. For antenna users, the Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network is available on channel 7.

    Antonio Daniels, one of the voices of the Pelicans, says the new broadcast partnership will bring the team into more homes in the Gulf South.

    “If I’m a Pelicans fan, I’m incredibly excited,” Daniels said. “This team is exciting and now you have the opportunity to reach more homes. This fan base is already incredibly passionate, so now is your chance to grow it.”

    Daniels says the Pelicans' hard-working, blue-collar ethos is a reflection of the city itself.

    “This is a blue-collar town with hard-working people, and that's what you want to see on the court – someone who reflects your lifestyle and puts it all on the line,” he said.

    While the Pelicans will feature their stars this season, including Zion Williamson, the team will also lean on emerging talent like Trey Murphy III, who recently signed a four-year contract extension worth $112 million.

    Dejounte Murray, who missed Tuesday's practice for personal reasons, returned to the team Wednesday morning. Williamson, who missed Tuesday due to illness, was absent Wednesday and his status remains uncertain.

    Head coach Willie Green has kept the starting lineup a secret, but sideline reporter Andrew Lopez speculates that fans can expect more versatility.

    “There will be some smaller lineups this year,” Lopez said. “With the mix of players we have, you can go bigger or smaller depending on the match.”

    Lopez described Brandon Ingram as the standout player of training camp in Nashville.

    “He looks fantastic. He makes more threes and gets into the lane when he wants to,” Lopez said. “Brandon was truly the MVP of Nashville. He’s ready to go.”

    Despite some uncertainty surrounding player availability, Daniels is confident about the Pelicans' chances in today's game.

    “The prediction for the game is that the Pelicans win at home. They have done fantastically over the last few years and I expect nothing less,” he said.
