The path to victory is Michigan, says the “blue wall.”

Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign team released a memo late Tuesday saying her best way to beat Republican former President Donald Trump and win the race for the White House was to build the “blue walls.” -To take the states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

It could still be a tough climb.

Harris campaign manager Jen O'Malley Dillon sent a memo to staff just before 11 p.m. as votes were being counted: “As we have always known, this is a razor-thin race … the closeness of the race is exactly what we have.” prepared ourselves for it.”

“As we continue to see data trickle in from the Sun Belt states, we have always known that our clearest path to 270 electoral votes is through the Blue Wall states. And we’re happy with what we see.”

O'Malley Dillon then went on to note that turnout expectations were exceeded in Philadelphia and several other areas of Pennsylvania, including those with “large non-white and student populations.” She also said that a significant number of votes are still waiting for a significant number of votes to be counted in Michigan, particularly in Detroit. “Other results in Michigan are more difficult to analyze because the results are more fragmented than elsewhere,” she wrote.

She also said there were “a significant number of votes remaining in Dane and Milwaukee counties” and complete results were not expected until later Wednesday morning. “We've been saying for weeks that this race may not be run tonight,” O'Malley Dillon said.

If Harris could win the three “blue wall” states, it could be enough for her to get the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the White House, even if she loses in Georgia and Arizona, two others States that Democratic President Joe Biden won in 2020. Biden won the blue wall states in 2020; Trump won all three of these states in 2016.

As of 11:30 p.m., Trump was in the lead in all battleground states, including Michigan, and North Carolina was already nominated for the Republican former president. However, many votes still had to be counted in the contested states. Visit freep.com for updated results.
