The Carolina Panthers brought in Bryce Young to play quarterback during Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears. When Young entered the game, the Panthers were down 36-10 late in the fourth quarter and had no chance of winning.

Andy Dalton He started at QB on Sunday and finished his day completing 18 of 28 passes for 136 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. He was named the starting QB on September 16 after the Panthers lost their first two games of the year with Young as the starter.

“I just owe it to all the guys, the coaches, the staff, the players and everyone involved to be really critical of what we're filming, what I'm seeing and make sure I'm constantly giving it my best shot “A decision will be made for the team every week,” Panthers head coach Dave Canales said on the Panthers’ official website at the time. “And it happens to be the quarterback position and that’s why it’s so loaded, but it’s every position and it’s all guys. And I was able to stand in front of the team and challenge all the boys that we all need to increase our passion for what we do in order to play.”

In Young's two games this year, he completed just 55.4 percent of his passes for 245 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions for a passer rating of 44.1. In his limited action against the Bears, the Alabama Crimson Tide alum completed four of his seven passes for 58 yards.

Bryce Young reacts to serving as the Panthers' backup QB

“A lot of plays, last year and the first two games, for the most part every snap hit my hands and I didn't get enough out of it at the end of the day,” Young said after the QB change was made. “I take responsibility for that. There are plays, there are things, there is a long list of things that I wish I was better at and I will continue to work to grow and improve and get better at it.

“I will always look in the mirror. Circumstances are what they are for, not just for me but for everyone. Everyone is struggling with something, everyone has circumstances. If I go out and play better and we win games, then it falls to me in the end. That didn’t happen and we wouldn’t be having this conversation.”
