The Oilers score 56 seconds into the game giving Edmonton a 4-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — The Edmonton Oilers (1-3-0) came from behind to secure their first win of the season with a 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers (1-1-1) on Tuesday night.

Connor McDavid, who had two assists, had a breakaway in overtime but was stopped by Flyers goalie Samuel Ersson. But he picked up the rebound and sent it ahead to Draisaitl, who scored his second goal of the season.

Adam Henrique, Connor Brown and Evan Bouchard also scored for the Oilers, who suffered a three-game losing streak early in the season in which they were outscored 15-3.

Flyer to the front Matvei Mikkov scored his first two NHL goals in just his third career game and Bobby Brink also scored for the Flyers.

Stuart Skinner had 27 saves for Edmonton and Ersson made 29 stops.

Takeaways

Flyer: Although forward Joel Farabee raised some concerns by missing Monday's practice, which was described as a maintenance day, he was in the lineup to maintain his Ironman streak. Farabee has not missed a game since John Tortorella became the Flyers' head coach and has now played in 175 consecutive games, tying him with Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby for the NHL's longest active Ironman streak.

Oiler: McDavid extended his point streak against the Flyers to 11 games, the longest active streak in the NHL. McDavid came into the game with 11 goals and 31 points in 14 games against Philadelphia, averaging 2.31 points per game.

Key moment

Edmonton tied the game at 3-3 with 3:42 left in the third period when Draisaitl made a great backhand pass in the slot to McDavid, who quickly passed it to Bouchard for a one-timer.

Key statistics

In 44 seasons, the Oilers have started 0-4 only twice – in 1995-96 and in McDavid's rookie season in 2015-16.
