The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 Ending, Explained

The Lincoln Lawyer kept us on the edge of our seats as Mickey faced his toughest case yet. After spending the last few weeks in court trying to connect all the dots to get Detective Bishop on the stand, it looks like his plan is finally working. But will he manage to prove that Julian is really innocent? Or will the system and Bishop's testimony destroy his only chance to save him?

Here's the ultimate breakdown of that The Lincoln Lawyer Third season finale.

We'll start with a look back…

Given that it all boils down to that statement, this shouldn't be too much of a surprise, but we see Bishop ten years earlier and see how he first met De Marco. De Marco questions him about the case he is currently working on, which involves the cartel. De Marco forces Bishop to work with him and help hide the truth about the case.

We then go back to the courthouse where Bishop takes the official stand and Mickey begins questioning him. Bishop admits that De Marco was the one who told him to get involved in the Glory Days case, surprising the jury and Forsythe. Mickey notices someone texting in the back of the room, which leads him to believe that De Marco has someone inside eavesdropping on the proceedings in the case. He texts Cisco, who then checks to see if there's a link. He sees De Marco reading a text message and running into a building before we're back in the courtroom.

Mickey continues his questioning…

There he begins to ask Bishop how he and De Marco first came into contact with each other. Bishop admits that he was the one under the hat who stalked Gloria at the hotel. Bishop notices that De Marco asked him to follow Gloria and find out where she lives.

Bishop checked into the hotel under a false name and arranged to meet Gloria, while also revealing information about the couple who lived across the hall to hide his involvement. He also followed her back to her house, but Judge Turner stops him from going any further and asks him if he would like to seek advice before proceeding. Bishop says he hasn't committed any crimes and is fine moving on, but Judge Turner asks him to give up his gun before he can move on.

Mickey continues his questioning, with Bishop admitting that he texted De Marco the address of Gloria's apartment and saw Julian stop by her place, but he left 15 minutes later. De Marco showed up not long after, and Bishop admits that he left the scene after noticing De Marco disappearing through the side of the building and no longer being able to see him. He says that he believed De Marco was hiding from the security cameras, but that he didn't believe Gloria would die. However, he had a feeling that something was wrong.

Meanwhile, Cisco De Marco follows…

Who then tries to speed away from him at a red light, where Cisco loses him.

Back in the courtroom, Bishop admits that De Marco paid him money to keep quiet about the truth about what really happened in the Juarez Cartel case, and since then De Marco has abandoned him for years. He also notes that he asked De Marco if he killed Gloria, and he said: “When he went to her apartment, she was already dead. He said he started the fire because he didn't know if she had anything had that he could be associated with.” her, and he didn't want it to come back to him. Despite everything, he wanted to believe De Marco, but in the end he didn't.

After Mickey finishes his questioning, Bishop gets a gun from under his seat and shoots himself in the mouth in the middle of the courtroom…

Some time later…

We see Mickey walking down the street thinking about what happened in court that day. He runs into Andy, who notices that she was looking for him. She tells him that it wasn't his fault and that it was Bishop's decision all along. Andy also tells him that Mickey was right about the system from the start and that since Vanessa fails, she plans to take over the Glass case. Later, Andy is seen entering Suarez's office and informing her that she will take over the Scott Glass case or she will be let go.

The next day, Mickey visits Julian in the hospital, who has now regained consciousness. Mickey reveals that the trial has been canceled and that Julian has the option to sue if he wants compensation.

At the office, Izzy and Lorna talk about how they haven't seen Mickey this shaken since Eddie's accident. When Mickey returns home, he notices that someone was there, but it's actually just Hayley, apologizing for everything. Mickey admits that he has thought about quitting, but she stops him, noting that he saved an innocent person and that she is thinking about following in her parents' footsteps. Mickey gets emotional over Hayley's return before we…

Take another leap in time!

This time we're four months into the future and see Mickey in the middle of Julian's case against the LAPD. He asks Julian to wait outside while he negotiates against Suarez to get Julian his severance pay.

Back at the office, Lorna receives her first case, which ultimately comes from the woman who first took action against Eddie. Izzy, opening the mail, finds a disturbing photo of De Marco being hanged before Mickey receives a call from Hector Moya confirming it was him. Suarez also calls Mickey back with a settlement offer and the team decides to go out and celebrate their big win.

Mickey admits he's going on vacation for a while, but has no plans to stop. He gives the entire team bonuses for their hard work. As he walks out, he “sees” Glory, Eddie, and his father raising their glasses to him.

We then see Mickey driving the Lincoln as he prepares for his big vacation…

That's until…

He is stopped on the side of the road by a police officer. After giving all his information, Mickey has to get out of the vehicle. He shows him the missing license plate and Mickey wonders if someone stole it before trying to return to the driver's seat. However, the officer calls him back after seeing blood coming from the trunk.

Mickey is arrested and the cop opens the trunk to find a body… before the credits roll to the end credits.

And that's it?!

Yes, that's exactly how the season ends. While Mickey may have been excited to return to the courtroom, it looks like he will be the defendant in this new case. This means that the fourth season of the series would follow The law of innocence.
