The guards stun the Yankees with a walk-off, sparking excitement on social media

The Cleveland Guardians narrowly avoided a 3-0 deficit against the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series.

Trailing by two runs with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, Guardians right fielder Jhonkensy Noel hit a home run to make it 5-5. An inning later, David Fry hit his own two-run home run to give Cleveland a 7-5 victory.

Noel is only the third player with a tie-breaking home run in the bottom of the ninth inning or later of an ALCS game. Fry's walk-off home run is the third in Guardians playoff history.

The Yankees are now 196-2 in their postseason history when leading by multiple runs in the ninth inning or later. The series continues with Game 4 on Friday in Cleveland.

The fact that the Guardians were able to avoid defeat sparked reactions across the sports world.
