The Cleveland Browns watched as linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah was carted off the field in the third quarter of their Week 8 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Owusu-Koramoah suffered a neck injury while attempting to tackle Ravens running back Derrick Henry on a second-and-21 play in which Henry was brought down after a 10-yard gain. After the game ended, JOK remained lying on the field for a long time while the team trainers looked after him.

Eventually he was placed on a stretcher, loaded into the ambulance and escorted from the field. He signaled to Browns fans that he was OK with a thumbs up while he was on the cart. It was later announced that JOK was taken to a local hospital and all of his extremities were mobile.

The frightening incident marked the second week in a row that a Browns player had to be sidelined with a serious injury after Deshaun Watson suffered a torn Achilles tendon in Week 7.

Owusu-Koramoah, a 2021 second-round pick, is the only Browns player to benefit from the NFL's new rule allowing players to wear the protective cap during games. Studies have shown that the cap can reduce the impact of a collision by 10-15%.

The Pro Bowl linebacker wasn't the only Browns defender to suffer a head injury during Sunday's game against Baltimore. Star corner Denzel Ward also left the game in the second half with a head injury. He made a brief stop in the Browns' medical tent before heading to the locker room with unrelated neurotrauma nearby.

His cornerback colleague Martin Emerson Jr. also spent some time in the blue medical tent with a head injury, but was able to return to action.
