The Chiefs expect the veteran to be traded for $1.5 million after just two months with the team

The Kansas City Chiefs running back situation is not what they expected at the start of the season. With Isiah Pacheco injured, the team has reshuffled the position and used several players in the lead role.

When listing potential Chiefs players who could be traded this month, Fan Sided's Sayre Bedinger predicted the team would trade Samaje Perine. Perine signed with the Chiefs on August 30 and Bedinger doesn't expect him to make it past the end of October.

“Perine is a solid veteran, but he is already being overtaken and overtaken by Hunt, and Perine may not be in the team's plans when players like Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire are welcomed back,” Bedinger wrote. “The Chiefs would have to be fairly confident in the availability of these guys, but it's entirely possible that Perine could be traded to a team in need of a running back by the deadline.”

The Chiefs signed Kareem Hunt after Pacheco went down and they needed depth. Carson Steele showed flashes but had difficulty fumbling the ball. Perine specializes in pass catching, but Hunt brings that too. Perine's experience in the league could be an asset in the playoffs, but Bedinger believes it may not be enough to keep him.

“But given the resurgence of Kareem Hunt in Kansas City's offense and the team's love for young Carson Steele, I could see someone like Perine falling by the wayside at some point,” Bedinger wrote of Perine's role on the team.

The NFL trade deadline is Nov. 5, giving the Chiefs less than a month to make a decision on Perine and any other possible deals.
