The Atlanta Falcons are clearly disrespected in the NFL's current power rankings

The Atlanta Falcons cannot currently be considered a top ten team in the league. Due to their complete lack of pass rush and failed run defense, it feels more than fair to rank them in the 11-15 range. However, there's one little thing that can't be overlooked in NFL.com's latest power rankings.

Placing the Falcons at No. 11 feels more than fair for a team that has plenty of room for improvement. What cannot be considered is placing any team in the NFC South ahead of the Falcons, as Atlanta has a perfect division record and the best quarterback in the division.

We need to be clear that every ranking that puts Tampa among the top ten teams in the league didn't pay attention to what happened on Sunday. The Spencer Rattler-led Saints dropped 27 points in a single quarter to Baker Mayfield's Bucs. The Tampa quarterback gave the ball away to a struggling New Orleans defense, and what should have been a layup against a rookie quarterback was a dogfight for much of the game.

Ranking Tampa ahead of Atlanta based on the way they played against New Orleans and the fact that they lost to Atlanta two weeks ago is disrespectful. Both squads have weaknesses, but there's no question that Atlanta is ahead of a team that allowed 27 points in a week after Kirk Cousins set a franchise passing record.

Atlanta's defense has major flaws, but the Bucs are far worse. What reason do you have to believe this team is better than the unit that beat them two weeks ago? The Falcons appear to have the better quarterback, better defense, better running game and better kicker. The only advantage the Bucs offer is that their top two receivers are better than any combination the Falcons can offer.

Tampa may be the defending division champions, but this is Atlanta's division to lose. After a three-game winning streak against division rivals, the Falcons have left no reason to believe the Bucs are the better team. Putting Tampa at 9th is a disregard for what the Falcons have accomplished and ignores the very clear deficiencies that Tampa continues to show each week.
