When it comes to meals, “The Boss” creates his own schedule.

In a new interview with The timeslegendary rock star Bruce SpringsteenThe 75-year-old revealed an unusual eating habit: he only eats one full meal a day.

When the reporter asked if that was really true, Springsteen replied: “Pretty much. In the morning I eat some fruit and then I have dinner. That’s what kept me lean and mean.”

But the “Dancing in the Dark” singer doesn’t just talk about his eating habits. In the new interview, the E Street Band leader also talked about his family life, childhood and performing with his wife.

His wife Patti Scialfa71, is also a touring member of the E Street Band. They have been married since 1991 and have three children together: sons Evan and Sam, who are 34 and 30 years old, respectively, and a daughter named Jessica, who is 32 years old.

“When Patti comes on stage with me, she understands that I'm the captain of this particular ship,” the “Born in the USA” singer shared. “As soon as I leave the stage, I am the chauffeur who takes the children to school at 6 a.m. I have known Pats on and off since she was 17 and we had a steady relationship as friends until we met as a couple in 1988 when I was 38 and she was 34. It worked out pretty well…except for the fact that I tend to take up a lot of space.”

The two met in 1980 at a local bar in New Jersey and soon after she was invited to tour with his band.

“She's a very good songwriter, but she doesn't get her due credit because she lives with an attention whore who sucks the air out of the room,” he joked to the outlet. “She had a problem there. She’s about to release a beautiful record, but she’s having a harder time getting recognized for her work because of who she’s married to.”

Springsteen has also been open about his wife's health issues. In 2018, Scialfa was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer called multiple myeloma.

“They caught it early and she has really good doctors who helped her a lot,” he said The times. “But it tires them out a lot and that’s a problem. I'm doing a three-hour show, which is tiring for me and I'm in pretty good health. But she was great. We found out that she can come out and sing a few songs and it's important that the fans know what's going on because they haven't seen her in five years. Patti decided she owed it to her audience.”
