Don't get me wrong, Tesla still dominates the Electric vehicle marketbut control quickly diminishes. The Austin, Texas-based automakerr delivered fewer vehicles in the third quarter of 2024 than analysts expected as more competition comes online China and Europe. That doesn't help most people Tesla's product range is ancient. All of these factors combined mean that the company is experiencing an annual decline in sales for the first time.

That's not it all However, there is bad news for Tesla. Deliveries were announced in the third quarter even from July to September by 6.4 percent to 462,890 vehicles. That's what it does the first quarter of growth this year. However – and this is a big problem – this number fell short of analysts' estimates of around 470,000 vehicles Reuters.

There is now a risk that Tesla will deliver fewer cars in 2024 than it did last year 2023. In fact, the company would need to deliver a record 516,344 vehicles in the fourth quarter to just maintain its 2023 delivery level of 1.81 million vehicles, Reuters reports. Look, I'm not a betting man, but I just don't think that's going to happen. None of this is particularly shocking. I mean, Tesla has controlled such a large portion of the electric car pie for so longThis type of market dominance is difficult to maintain – especially as other car manufacturers bring more and more to the market convincing products And People are starting to shy away from electric vehicles generally.

In total, Tesla says built 469,796 vehicles in the third quarter of 2024 large Most of them were Model 3 sedans and Model Y crossovers – 443,668 (439,975 shipped) to be exact. The other 26,128 (22,915 were delivered) were divided among themselves Limousine Model S, Crossover Model X and the Cybertruck. Annoyingly, Tesla doesn't break down its production numbers any further.

This news comes about a week before what could be the most important day Tesla has had in a long time – the (theoretical) unveiling of his robotaxi thing on October 10th. Depending on how this all goes on, Tesla will either be on the road to success or move closer and closer to the rest of the competition as the year progresses. Tesla will also release its full third quarter financial report on October 23rd, so we'll have even more answers then.
