Teddi Mellencamp and her husband, Edwin Arroyavehave separated and the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Alum decided to file for divorce after 13 years of marriage.

“After much care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” Mellencamp, 43, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, November 2nd. “My children are my priority and I will ensure that every care is taken with their privacy and well-being in this new chapter.”

She added: “I did not want to make a public statement, but in an effort to protect my family from inappropriate speculation and rumors, the best way for me was to be open, honest and vulnerable.”

Mellencamp and 47-year-old Arroyave, who has yet to publicly address the split, have been married since 2011. They have three children together: Slate, Dove and Cruz. (Arroyave is also father to daughter Isabella from a previous relationship.)

“When we first started, I remember my first day, honestly, I was like, 'F–, when am I going to tell everyone I'm getting a divorce?' Like, when do I do this?'” Teddi said during a March 2023 episode of her podcast “Two Ts in a Pod.” “We’re at our absolute worst moment because, honestly, for us it was really about a power struggle.”

She added: “We were always kind of equals when we were together. I rode, I was competitive and I was all of those things. Then I couldn't get pregnant naturally, I did all those IVFs. Then suddenly he was in charge of our finances, and I had never been that way before. I've never had no money of my own, I've worked since I was 17. Then I started hating him.”

Teddi and the businessman were finally able to overcome their problems when she rediscovered her self-love.

Since Teddi Mellencamp was diagnosed with skin cancer, she has used her platform to remind fans to take care of their skin. Years later, in 2022, Teddi was diagnosed with skin cancer and Arroyave stood by her side.

“I always say that life and pain are inextricably linked, and seeing @teddimellencamp embrace her pain and use it once again for the greater good last night as she hosted the @curemelanoma gala was a beautiful reminder of that “What she's capable of,” he wrote about Instagram on October 27, a week before Teddi confirmed her plans to divorce. “Your story has already saved lives. And I couldn't be prouder that she will continue to save more. I love you, Teds.”
