Taylor Swift's Miami concert opens more US tour dates: Live updates

Swifties rejoice! Taylor Swift is back on her Eras tour for her second — and final — U.S. leg after a two-month break.

The richest musician in the world starts the countdown to the end of her record-breaking tour tonight at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida (!!!).

Follow USA TODAY Network reporters Bryan West and Samantha Neely for live updates as the fans, friendship bracelets and frenzy return.

Multiple fan accounts say Travis Kelce's mother will be at the show tonight. And possibly Jason and Kylie Kelce and their children. We'll let you know when we confirm that the Kelce family — or some of them — are here to cheer on Swift.

We know the Kansas City tight end is in full football mode and most likely won't be at any of the Hard Rock Stadium shows. The Chiefs have their upcoming Super Bowl rematch against the San Francisco 49ers on October 20th at 3:25 p.m

Will Swift come to Florida and not perform the song of the same name?

Will Florence Welch surprise audiences like she did in London? Time will only tell.

USA TODAY national music critic Melissa Ruggieri described “Florida!!!” when “The Tortured Poets Department” came out in April.

“Florida!!!,” co-written and co-starring Florence Welch, stands out, with Swift and Welch trading vocals over a stomping backbeat that is both cinematic and purposeful.

While it's impossible to lyricize Swift, Welch comes impressively close with her self-penned post: “Barricaded in the bathroom with a bottle of wine, my ghosts and I had one hell of a time.”

These two are ideal companions, musically and philosophically.

First it was glitter freckles.

Now yellow sweatshirts seem to be on our list for fall. Also, do we need another cat?

Swift appeared before the tour with one of her three cats, Olivia Benson, and captioned it: “Back in the office.” That's exactly how we felt when we arrived at work today. Okay, maybe we needed the sweatshirt, which sold out within an hour of her post.

It was time for Olivia to be the center of attention. After all, Benjamin Button was on the cover of Time magazine with Taylor last year.

Almost as much as the tour, we love seeing what fans wear to the shows. Every concert seems to bring more creativity. A few of our favorite looks Swifties posted on the way to the Miami show:

We love the look Swift wore to the Chiefs game against the New Orleans Saints. This also applied to everyone else.

It wasn't just Vivienne Westwood's beautiful, unusual dress.

It was those glittering freckles.

Conclusion's sales increased 3,500% following Swift's appearance at the Chiefs game. The pop star's endorsement, as well as several viral TikTok videos and acquisition by Urban Outfitters, propelled the brand name to higher echelons of the cosmetics industry.

“As many have seen, I just started sobbing,” says Conclusion co-founder Aliett Buttelman, referring to a TikTok video that has been viewed more than seven million times. “Having your brand worn by the No. 1 icon of our generation is a testament to the hard work we have put in for two years.”

“Taylor Swift – The Eras Tour Book,” a 256-page book with 500 images including performance photos (from all eras of the show), rehearsal images and reflections written by Swift, will be released at Target on November 29th. The coffee table-style book will likely be a popular holiday gift for Swifties at $39.99.

Swift wrote about the book on Instagram earlier this week: “We will be starting the final leg of the Eras tour this week, which is hard to understand. This tour was the most wonderful experience and I knew I wanted to remember “memories we created together in a special way,” Swift wrote on her Instagram account when she announced the book. It contains, as she says, her “personal reflections” of the tour.

–Melissa Ruggieri

Stadium gates open at 4:30 p.m., with Swift taking the stage around 7 p.m

When the tour began in April last year, no one knew exactly what to expect. Swift hadn't toured since Reputation. Our national music critic Melissa Ruggieri attended the first-ever show in Glendale, Arizona, and called it “as ambitious as a Broadway musical.”

Swifties knew the tour was big, but could anyone predict how next year's tour would turn out? Ruggieri wrote, “Not since the most powerful days of Bruce Springsteen and his legendary live concerts has a mainstream artist packed so much music into one show.”

Read all of Ruggieri's impressions from the first show.

Swift's boyfriend may have been in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, for his latest Eras tour. The Kansas City tight end is in full football mode and most likely won't be at any of the Hard Rock stadium shows. The Chiefs have their upcoming Super Bowl rematch against the San Francisco 49ers on October 20th at 3:25 p.m

Swift has cheered on Kelce at three home games so far. Their next NFL appearance could be the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on November 4th at Arrowhead Stadium. This comes after she completes her final American show in Indianapolis on November 3rd.

Gracie Abrams opens for Swift in Miami. She also opened for a few shows on the tour last year. Our KiMi Robinson saw Abrams on her solo tour in Los Angeles in September and says she “sings like she's telling you a secret.”

Will she sing “I Miss You, I’m Sorry” or “Close to You”? Here's what she's included in previous Eras Tour openers:

  1. Where are we going now?
  2. 21
  3. Block me
  4. I should hate you
  5. I know it won't work
  6. I miss you, I'm sorry

Fans who flew to Miami for the concert this week streamed straight into the stadium. Not for the show, of course, but to buy merch and not miss anything from the concert while waiting in line.

Charmaine Brown went straight from her flight from Charlotte to the stadium and received her reward: two plastic bags filled with Taylor Swift hoodies and T-shirts. Her bright red carry-on luggage lay next to her as she ordered an Uber to her hotel. The superfan wore her bright red T-shirt that read, “Karma is the Chiefs guy coming straight to my house” and a sweatshirt that read “All Too Well” tied around her waist.

“I took my first photo at 11:03 a.m. and my checkout photo was at 12:09 p.m.,” she said, showing off her most recent photos. “I’m really looking forward to the concert. I can barely wait for it. I hope Taylor knows we appreciate everything you do for us.”
