Sunny skies and mild temperatures on Wednesday before rain and snow over the weekend

Today's forecast: It's a clear and cool start to our Wednesday, with early morning temperatures in the lower to upper 30s. Today will be pleasant, with plenty of sunshine and high temperatures in the lower to mid 70s.

There is a chance of isolated showers and storms in the mountains, particularly along the Continental Divide, with snow showers possible above 11,500 feet this afternoon. Accumulations will be light, with slightly higher amounts over the San Juan peaks through early Thursday morning.

Partly cloudy and dry across the i25 corridor and east through this evening, with not-so-cool lows in the mid 40s. More clouds and gustier winds roll in on Thursday, with another mild day and highs in the low 70s ahead of our next big weather maker.

Expect 60 degrees with increasing showers on Friday, followed by cooler temperatures on Saturday. Highs will be in the 50s to start the weekend, with rain on the plains and snow in the highlands.

Forecast for Colorado Springs: High: 72; Low: 34.
Light frost is possible, a cold morning is expected, followed by rapid warming in mostly sunny conditions. It will be a windy day with a southerly wind at 10 mph and gusts to 25 mph.

Pueblo Forecast: High: 76; Low: 34.
Wednesday will be mostly sunny in Pueblo with a cold morning and a warm afternoon. Winds will be southerly at 5-10 mph, with gusts up to 15 mph.

Canon City forecast: High: 75; Low: 39.
Cool on Wednesday morning and warm in the afternoon. Winds will be WSW at 8-12 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph.

Woodland Park Forecast: High: 68; Low: 35.
Cold in the morning and mild with sunshine in the afternoon. Winds will be from the southwest at 10-15 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph.

Tri Lakes Forecast: High: 69; Low: 42.
Monument and the Tri-Lakes will be cool in the morning and pleasant in the afternoon. Winds will be breezy from the SSW at 5-10 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph.

Plains forecast: High: 70s; Low: 30s.
Mostly sunny on Wednesday with cold temperatures in the morning, light frost or frost possible. The afternoon will be in the low to mid 70s.

Forecast for Walsenburg and Trinidad: High: 73/70; Low: 36/38.
Wednesday will be mostly sunny, with a cool morning and a warm afternoon. Winds will be breezy from the southwest at 5-15 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph.

Mountain Forecast: High: 60s; Low: 30s.
Mostly sunny in the mountain valleys with a cold morning and a pleasant afternoon in the 60s. Winds will be breezy from the southwest at 5-15 mph with gusts of 20-25 mph.

Advanced Forecast Forecast: Thursday will be similar, with a warmer start and more clouds forming throughout the afternoon. Winds will be slightly stronger from the southwest at 10-15 miles per hour, with gusts up to 30 miles per hour.

Conditions begin to change on Friday. We will remain windy and dry at first, with highs in the 60s. A cold front will arrive in the evening, bringing significantly colder temperatures and a chance of rain. Behind this front, it will be cool with clouds and intermittent showers over the weekend, with highs of 50° on Saturday and 60° on Sunday.
