“Steelers spoil Davante Adams' Jets debut”

The former Raiders and Packers receiver was targeted nine times, tied for the team lead. Additionally, he drew the attention of talented Steelers second-year CB Joey Porter Jr. for portions of the game, giving WRs Garrett Wilson (5 receptions for 61 yards) and Allen Lazard (4 for 58) more opportunities against limited doubles – teams.

“You could see the great synergy between Aaron and Davante,” said HC Jeff Ulbrich. “You could tell the relationship they have because they agree. And at the same time, it’s been a second since they’ve played together, so I imagine that relationship and the production between the two of them is just going to grow.”

Adams added: “We can continue to get on a better side, but I don’t think there’s any rust. It's just football, and it doesn't always work perfectly. We had a really good week of training and that's what we're doing. “I'll go ahead and have a good week of training next week and see what we can do to turn things around.

Now in his 11th NFL season, Adams brings his years of experience and relationship with Rodgers to the Jets and believes the team has what it takes to bounce back.

“We have a lot of talent,” Adams said. “As far as the weapons that we have, I mean, I'm in the conversation today and several times I just looked around and thought it's kind of crazy. Knowing that you have these types of weapons and that you come up short and put up 15 points against the team, I mean, we can certainly do a lot more.

Since the Jets are three games behind the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East, they still have a lot of work to do and have 10 games left. Adams believes it's the details that matter.

“You don’t have 20 opportunities to do it right in this league,” Adams said. “Sometimes you just have to go out there and face the defense that you’re presenting and find a way to make it work. And we haven't done that enough. We had no problems moving the ball. I felt like this was the ultimate.” A day of shooting yourself in the foot.
