Shocking moment: A 1.90 meter tall 33-year-old woman is shot dead by a police officer after she slashed him several times with a knife

Shocking police body camera video shows the moment a Virginia woman was shot by an officer after she attacked him with a knife.

Sydney Wilson, 33, a commercial real estate manager in the Washington DC area, was visited by an officer at her Reston home at 10 a.m. on September 16 for a welfare check

Officer Peter Liu — who has 14 years of experience in crisis intervention — knocked on the door and Wilson answered it.

When the officer identified himself, she slammed the door again.

The police officer continued to knock for the next three minutes, but the 6-foot-tall Wilson opened the door and attacked him with a knife.

Wilson is accused of stabbing the officer in the face multiple times until the officer fired his weapon.

Liu retreated down the hallway before firing three more shots and calling for help.

Wilson received cardiopulmonary resuscitation at the scene but was pronounced dead at a local hospital from gunshot wounds.

Police Chief Kevin Davis said Liu did his best and kept the situation from getting worse.

“It could have been much, much, much worse; “The cut, gash and laceration he sustained was at the top of his forehead,” he said.

A psychologist asked police to conduct a welfare check on Wilson.

Davis admitted that these types of evaluations are usually done in conjunction with another psychologist.

However, the usual co-responder was not available at the time because another conversation was in progress.

Davis believes the doctor's failure to show up on scene prevented the incident from becoming more fatal.

“Every time doctors get out of a police car and walk with a police officer to a door, to an accident scene, or to an outdoor scenario, they are putting themselves in some danger, and with that comes some risk.”'

He added that he doesn't know that a psychologist could have prevented the incident from turning out this way.

Wilson, a former Georgetown University basketball player, remembered her former school in an Instagram post.

“Georgetown women's basketball mourns the tragic loss of Sydney Wilson (C'13). “Forever a Hoya.”

While the internal investigation into the shooting continues, Officer Liu remains assigned to administrative duties.
