BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Lackluster at best is how one would most likely describe the “chances” for rain over the past few days, which for many actually only materialized in the form of a few hundredths of an inch on Saturday.

With the new week comes a few new rain chances, one of which could bring severe storms.

A well-supported upper-level low and resulting front has already wreaked havoc across portions of Oklahoma and far northern Texas and will continue its eastward migration early in the week.

There are two time frames to consider for the Brazos Valley: one with the greater severe threat, the other with the overall higher chance of rain/storms.

Monday afternoon will be the typical watch/wait/see scenario, with the main show likely to be to our north. Daytime heating could While there are a few storms developing in our region, they appear to be isolated, if at all. As storms form, strong winds, hail, and low tornado potential may occur. Our chance of rain and storms increases as the actual front slides south this evening and overnight.

There will be widespread storms on Monday night, some of them severe, and there is a low chance of strong winds and small hail. What's needed for most is good, old-fashioned rain, which should drop widespread totals of 0.75″-1.25″, with local totals of 2″ or more.

Election Day looks breezy and MUCH cooler, and there are no real problems getting to the polls.

Our next COLD FRONT probably won't arrive until this weekend or later, but the tug-of-war over moisture in the Gulf continues Wednesday night into Thursday as a WARM front brings moisture back from the Gulf and an isolated chance of rain to end the week . Not as widespread and heavy, but a chance to expect some more needed rainfall.
