Roma fought their way back into the game twice with Matias Soulé and Artem Dovbyk, but Verona continued to press and secured a huge 3-2 win with Abdou Harroui.

The Giallorossi managed a 1-0 win against Torino in midweek to save Ivan Juric's job, but tensions were still extremely high. Mario Hermoso and Alexis Saelemaekers were out injured, but Dovbyk returned to the starting line-up. Hellas lost three in a row, with Jackson Tchatchoua and Reda Belahyane suspended after their red cards against Lecce and Pawel Dawidowicz, Martin Frese and Juan Manuel Cruz sidelined.

Nicola Zalewski had the ball in the net after 12 minutes with wonderful control, moving inside and curling into the far bottom corner, but that didn't matter as he was offside as he conceded the long ball over the goal line.

Moments later, Zalewski went from hero to zero when his terrible cross pass was intercepted by Casper Tengstedt, who was free to go wide and give Verona the lead against the run of play.

Zalewski timed Enzo Le Fee's pass to test Lorenzo Montipò at the near post, but Matias Soulé fired the rebound over the goal from 12 yards.

Roma equalized in style when Lorenzo Pellegrini's shot deflected in, but Zalewski rolled the ball back from the left and Soulé expected the defender to heel the ball into the goal from close range.

Zeki Celik and Zalewski failed to take advantage of another clever through ball from Soulé, but Tengstedt saw his angled shot deflected just inches past the far post. After the resulting corner from Ondrej Duda, Verona restored the lead with a glancing header from Giangiacomo Magnani at the near post. Roma protested that Evan Ndicka was caught on the nose, but it wasn't an unnatural move from Magnani.

After the restart, Roma got back on level terms when Celik rolled over from the right and Dovbyk, along with Magnani, shot over the line from close range.

Duda tried to lob Mile Svilar out of midfield but wasn't far off the mark, then rolled almost straight into the goal from the corner flag, forcing Svilar into a tough save, while substitute Paulo Dybala hit a free-kick from outside the near top corner flew over area.

Roma had a huge chance when Stephan El Shaarawy pulled back from the byline and Dybala brought the ball home from six yards, but three Verona defenders struggled to clear the line.

Instead, Verona took the lead for the third time this evening. The fresh legs off the bench made the difference as Livramento shook Ndicka off the ball and rolled it to Abdou Harroui, who took one touch to save the ball from 13 yards.

It wasn't over yet as Montipò made a desperate one-handed save to parry Dybala's snooker shot. Verona received its third red card in two games when Livramento lunged at El Shaarawy with both feet and was sent off.
