Security increased at Hard Rock Stadium ahead of Taylor Swift concert – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

MIAMI GARDENS, FL. (WSVN) – Hard Rock Stadium is taking strict measures to protect thousands of Taylor Swift fans from the pop singer's local concert.

The singer will hold her Eras Tour show at the Miami Gardens venue Friday through Sunday.

Thousands of fans are expected to attend the concerts this weekend, but they will encounter a large police presence.

Stadium officials said fans without tickets would not be allowed onto the stadium grounds and guests would have to pass through several ticket checkpoints before entering.

A prepaid parking permit is required to enter the stadium grounds and can only be purchased by ticket holders.

If parents do not want to attend the concert but would like to pick up their children to enjoy the show, Hard Rock Stadium has designated lots 14, 15 and 31 for parent drop-off and pickup on all three nights.

Fans will not be allowed to line up or park at the stadium gates until the parking lots open at 3:30 p.m

The stadium gates will open at 4:30 p.m

Only clear plastic bags no larger than 12 x 6 x 12 inches are permitted. Small bags must be no larger than 4.5 x 6.5 inches.

Officials added that there will be no listening areas outside the stadium.

The tightened measures come months after chaos during the Copa America final, when mass panic broke out as fans tried to break down the Hard Rock Stadium's gates.

Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said Swfities can expect a different level of security.

“We had an unprecedented number of law enforcement at the Copa event, and that was truly an unprecedented situation that we are learning from for the future,” Levine Cava said. “I would say Taylor Swift fans are a little different than your football fans.”

The mayor said safety is the county's top priority.

“We worked hard on the preparations for months. “It is an ongoing conversation with our Miami-Dade Police Department special team working on these events, as well as Homeland Security,” she said.

Fans who passed by the Taylor Swift merchandise store, which remained open until 8 p.m. Thursday, said they were excited to see the show and have fun.

“I'm thrilled! I'm really excited,” said Caroline Redmond.

“I’m so excited to hear her perform,” said Isabella Vicanon. “I love Gracie Abrams and I love Taylor Swift. They are both my favorite artists.”

“On a scale of 1 to 10, a minus 2, but my daughter is not OK,” one parent said.

7News spoke with fans as they did their last-minute shopping for Eras tour merchandise.

“We are so excited. I’m so excited,” said another fan.

A mother and daughter wore matching Taylor Swift crewnecks.

“We are excited. Tenth birthday surprise,” said the mother.

Regardless of the safety rules, Swifties are excited to see their favorite artist in person.

“It’s the tour of the decade, so we’re excited,” said Elbie Villagomez.

“We love you, Taylor!” shouted a group of friends.

People have traveled far and wide to Miami Gardens for this mega tour.

“Viva Mexico! We love Taylor,” Villagomez and her friend said.

“We just came down this morning,” said one mother.

“We’re from Birmingham, Alabama,” said the daughter, who came with her mother.

“I live further north,” said one local fan. “We’re super excited.”
