Sean McVay comments on Rams WR mistake

Puka Nacua was unable to finish Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks because he was sent off for a punch in the second quarter. The incident occurred just before halftime after Matthew Stafford's interception, a rare mental error by the Rams' star receiver.

He finished the day with just one catch for 11 yards, but fortunately the Rams were still able to pull out a win over their division rivals. Sean McVay then mentioned in his opening statement that this will be a “great learning opportunity” for Nacua.

“It will be a great learning opportunity for Puka. He is emotional. That’s one of the things we love about him, but he’ll be able to learn from it,” McVay said.

McVay was asked what he told Nacua after the ejection, and while the coach admitted it was a mistake, he didn't seem concerned that his star receiver might not allow it.

He expects Nacua to learn from this and looks forward to him “responding the way I know he’s capable.”

“We’re smarter than that,” McVay said of what he told Nacua. “I love him. I think the most important thing you know about him is one of his best qualities: his emotions and the way he loves to compete with his teammates and do whatever he can to contribute and also understanding how important it is to what AD has always done Call controlled aggression. He will learn from it. He's just the right guy and this is a learning opportunity. We all make mistakes and I look forward to seeing him respond the way I know what he is capable of.”

Nacua has only played three games this season and failed to finish two of them; In Week 1, he injured his knee in the first half and was forced off on Sunday. In the one game he actually finished, he caught seven passes for 106 yards in Week 8 against the Vikings.
