Rockets and Jalen Green reportedly agree to three-year extension

Jalen Green averaged 19.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists last season.

Rockets guard Jalen Green has agreed to a three-year contract extension to stay in Houston. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the reported deal is worth up to $106 million.

The 2021 runner-up had until 6 p.m. ET to sign rookie-format contract extensions.

Green showed big moments in his first three seasons, but was mostly known for his inconsistency. He made a splash last March when he scored to lead the Rockets to 11 straight wins. Green scored 30 or more points five times in eight of those games. He finished the season averaging 19.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists.

The Rockets finished the 2023-24 season with a record of 41-41. After improving by 19 games in their first season under coach Ime Udoka, the Rockets have embraced the playoffs-or-bust mantra this season.

More consistent play from Green could be the recipe the Rockets need to reach the postseason for the first time since James Harden led the team in 2020.
