University of Miami quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate Cam Ward has reportedly made a positive impression on NFL talent evaluators this season.

According to ESPN's Matt Miller, Ward is ranked by “multiple” NFL scouts as the No. 1 quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft class, ahead of players like Colorado's Shedeur Sanders, Georgia's Carson Beck, Texas' Quinn Ewers and Penn's Drew Allar State.

After playing two seasons each at FCS Incarnate Word and Washington State, Ward moved to Miami for the 2024 season, and that decision paid off.

Playing for one of the most storied programs in college football, Ward took his game to the next level, completing 68.7 percent of his passes for an FBS-leading 2,538 yards and 24 touchdowns, along with four interceptions and another 190 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Additionally, the Hurricanes have a perfect 7-0 record and are ranked No. 6 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.

Because of his individual and team success, Ward is in the thick of the Heisman Trophy race, along with Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel and Colorado cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter.

Entering the season, Sanders was arguably the player to beat to become the top quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft, and he was having a strong year himself.

The son of Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders has gotten the Buffaloes off to a 5-2 start, completing 72.2 percent of his pass attempts for 2,268 yards, 19 touchdowns and six picks, while also scoring two scores.

Sanders isn't as athletic or dynamic as Ward, but he has shown he is a more accurate passer, which could potentially be attractive to NFL teams.

However, if Ward continues his current pace of getting Miami into the College Football Playoff and winning the Heisman, it will be difficult for scouts and general managers to ignore.

The Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders are among the struggling NFL teams that could be looking for a quarterback in the 2025 draft, and it seems like a good bet that one of Ward will land them with a high pick.
